Sermon | Sunday, April 11, 2021 | Peace Be With You
Truth, unfortunately, takes time, and intention. And it takes more than that, as anyone with time on their hands and determination can make anything seem believable, when it is in fact not. Truth means being grounded in a philosophical reality, and in a moral and theological reality that reminds us of who we are called to be. My favorite Theologian Paul Tillich says that God is the Ground of Being, meaning:
God is being-itself, not a being… God transcends every being and also the totality of beings - the world... Being-itself infinitely transcends every finite being.
If we seek to resist conspiracies and misinformation, we must desire that which transcends them. We must ground ourselves in the God who transcends that which is nonsensical.
